CHARTER OF HEALTH & COMMUNITY SERVICES RIGHTS HCA SURVEY: YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE A SAY

South Australia is about to have a new Charter of Rights for Health and Community Services. The Charter is being developed by the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner and will set out the rights of people who use health and community services.

It is the Complaints Commissioner‟s job to receive and resolve complaints about health or community service providers. In future when a complaint is received by the Commissioner the Charter will be used to help determine whether a health or community service user has grounds for a complaint about the services they have received.

HCA believes it is vital for the voice of consumers and carers to be heard about what should be included in this Charter of Rights. We are keen for this voice to reflect the diversity of South Australian health consumers, their families and carers. Different engagement activities are being conducted by HCA to ensure that this occurs.

One major way is by participating in our online survey, which provides the opportunity to give confidential opinions on all aspects of the charter. Your views will be received by HCA until Wednesday, 4 August 2010.

Please click here to participate.

HCA also wants to ensure that this process includes consumers and carers who don‟t use or have access to the internet. To facilitate this, the survey is also available by post. To request a copy please contact Claire Aberlé, Executive Assistant at HCA, on (08) 223 1374.
